We've had badly need rain the past week and more to come this week. This is the view above Hog Creek Boat Landing on the Rogue River on Saturday, January 21. The river is mighty, high and muddy and with more rains predicted we expect it will continue to rise. Hopefully there will be snow pack in the mountains and a good water flow for the 2012 season.

Here we are on the road overlooking Hellgate Canyon on the Rogue River. We walked from our house. Hoping the rains will come soon and rafters will be able to float with few obstacles come the spring and summer season.

Sunny day and Ferron, buddy, Geoff, Pupeye and Curry put the driftboat in at Ennis and fished upstream and down to Galice. Alas, no fish. The last time Curry was in a driftboat, he tried to jump out and Sue grabbed him by the tail. While we laughed, doggie paddle took on another meaning. Obviously he was not traumatized. On this mid January day we are becoming ever more aware of the need for rain in our region.

Meet Curry, the newest doggie crew member for Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips. We all met each other at the Curry County Animal Shelter during our annual post river season trip to Gold Beach. We put Junior to sleep this summer and with the post season coming on we decided it would be timely to fill our doggie void. Curry was six weeks and had brindle color. Mom is a lab and what's your guess about dad? Sue insisted that she didn't want a dog as big as Pupeye. Time will tell and Curry will be ready for our 2012 Rogue River season.

We shared a lovely fall day with this couple from Dallas, OR. They raise yellow labs and horses and love animals. Pupeye entertained them jumping off the raft several times and chasing deer. Turtles were viewed in unusual positions. He has served two tours in Iraq and we are appreciative of his service.

Here is our crew from today's day trip; local folks referred by local folks. That's what Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips is all about. We're a small company that serves our community in many ways.

Groups from the Oregon coast and Massachusetts joined us today. With near 100 degree temperatures everyone was in kayaks by the afternoon. The western pond turtle was debating whether to get into the river as well. The wildlife show was abundant with deer, salmon and bald eagle.
This family was on Ferron's Rogue River Rafting Fun Trip. The ten year old paddled for the first time through class II whitewater. Of course, we stopped to pick and eat delicious blackberries along the river's edge.
This trip was called wild boys. Water fights and lots of blackberry picking and a little throwing of blackberries occurred on the trip. From here the family was headed to Out N About Treesort.
Pupeye was requested on this trip today. These folks were taking advantage of southern Oregon. Yesterday was the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and today was rafting the Rogue River, picking and eating blackberries, and kayak fun, too. Tomorrow they head to Crater Lake.
This family was on our August 20 day trip. The were staying at Out N About Treehouses and decided to spend the day with Ferron in the big raft, listen to his stories and not venture into a smaller craft. It was a hot and great day on the river.

Here is our August 12 day trip at our exclusive lunch spot above Rocky Riffle. Local folk from Williams who had company visiting from Michigan joined a couple who were return customers from last year. After they were on the half day, they decided to sign up for the full day. And they spent a lot of the day in a double Tomkat.

Two families who were ending their summer vacation joined Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips for a rafting day. Water fights and fishing being caught along the river's edge were only part of the excitement.
This trips was comprised of local folks. We had donated a two person trip to Winterfest which benefits Options of Southern Oregon, SOASTC and Family friends. A Grants Pass woman won this trip. Three others joined us from Wolf Creek. The photo above right is our day trip lunch spot. As you can see, we have a wonderful exclusive location overlooking the Rogue River in Galice.
Driving north from CA this family and their dog, Cocoa, decided to spend the day with Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips. The elder son crews for their local club and was in the single kayak for the day except for a brief out of kayak experience at Argo. Dad and younger son tackled the rapids in the double Tomkat this afternoon. It was a great day on the river.

Early this year we started corresponding with this family from London about their float on the Rogue River today. It was a great connect. Ferron learned that Mom and Dad have traveled to Nepal as has Sue. The family was on its way to see Oregon's only National Park, Crater Lake. What a great experience for this family from England.

This family from France floated with us yesterday. Though they live in CA, they have driven to Oxaca! The traded in and out of the kayaks and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They were headed to Pirates Of Penzance after their time on the river.

A dear friend and his grandsons floated with Sue on the River. It was an awesome experience for the boys and Sue loved every moment of it.

A group from California which included a guide dog and a care giver joined us for the morning half day trip. They joined a family from the Treehouses. The morning group beat the heat as temperatures rose to near 100 degrees.

This family, their French exchange student, and the son's friend joined us Wednesday for a Rogue River float from Hog to Argo. It was the first time the French lady in the green lifejacket had been on the river. We had a great time even with the upstream afternoon winds. Sue was glad she had rear mount support and most in the boat were glad they had water guns!

This family from Texas joined us on the Rogue River today. Dad is a firefighter and the real fighter was the young man who challenged Argo Rapids and fell out! The group came to us from Out 'N About Treehouses. With mid 80 temperatures it was a wonderful day to be on the river.

These folks on our guided Rogue River rafting trip today have all been experienced rafters. The gentleman on the left had requested to paddle so we provided a rear mount paddle support raft. He really enjoyed the relaxation, too. his partner said, "This is the life." The gentleman on the right has kayaked the Rogue in the past and felt more comfortable on guided trip this time. He kept himself upright through Argo and had a great afternoon.

This family joined us on our Rogue River rafting trip today. They came to us from Out 'N About Treehouses. Although they had not requested a kayak, with 90+ degree weather, we brought one along and everyone took a turn.

This father and daughter team were part of a group that joined us for our half day Rogue River float trip. Grants Pass had record rainfall the previous two days and the group from Out 'A About Treehouses switched from the morning to afternoon and got glimpses of sunshine.

Our rafters from Portland enjoyed their float today even though we are having inclement weather. Marcella, in the front of the inflatable kayak, chose whitewater rafting and hopes to go to an OMSI camp next year to learn more.
